The countdown for the new year to start has been completed, and it ushers in the countdown till we depart for Papua New Guinea for the Pacific Orientation Course that starts May 10th! We are so grateful God blessed us with these extra months to wrap up things here well. John had 10 days off for Christmas, giving us a great opportunity to visit with loved ones and get some rest as a family. January will be John's last month working at Guthmann Construction, moving us into our full time missions positions. Our first boat shipment of personal items will set sail for PNG at the end of January as well.
Praises to our Father for getting us this far. We are just shy of 80% of our monthly Wycliffe ministry budget! He has surprised us at every turn — things we wouldn't have even known how to pray for, reaffirming to us again and again that He will see us through.
Thank you all for praying this last month, especially over the new job opportunities for John in PNG. God has very clearly closed the door for one of the alternate opportunities. There are still other regional manager positions available, but in the meantime we have decided to stay our original course to Ukarumpa. In this process of seeking and praying though, God has really opened our hearts to whatever possibilities He might have in store for us, not just the ones that we think we can handle.
Please pray that God will move the rest of our partnership team in place in January, bringing us to 100% of our monthly support. This will be a huge blessing, as it will release us to purchase plane tickets and submit our visas. Plus it will free us to focus on packing, Dr's visits, various paperwork, and maybe some extra training.
Please pray for our continued health — physically, mentally, and spiritually. We are so thankful that we have not gotten sick yet this season with so much yuck going around.
Pray for Millie as we kick potty training into high gear. Whether we wash cloth diapers or buy expensive disposable diapers in PNG, the prospect of either isn't very favorable! Pray that she joyfully takes to it, and that it's a quick and smooth transition.
Pray that God will grant us an extra measure of wisdom as to what to pack, how to use God's money that's been entrusted to us, how to use our time, being intentional with the kids, etc.
We thank God for you in all our prayers; your prayers are priceless to us! Please, please write us so we can pray for you better. Our heart is to know you and love you well, and we firmly beleive the best way to do that is to pray for you!
