Praise God for so many answered prayers! Our last days in the states were rich and restful, our flights could not have gone smoother, and we are already forging new and sweet relationships with friends here (both nationals and expats)! God has been tender with His mercies, and gracious with His blessings toward us since arriving here in PNG.
Our training is in full swing, and we are busy pretty much all day, everyday. Check out our blog posts for more updates with that.
Please pray for our old overtaxed brains! That we can really soak up the language here. It has already proven to be such a strong key to deeper relationships with the Papua New Guineans.
Please continue to pray for our health... spiritual, emotional, and physical! Millie is the only one so far who has been spared from sickness.
Please pray for our upcoming village stay. We will be in the village for three weeks, starting on June 25th. Pray for health, safety, sleep, food, language acquisition, and relationships.
Please especially pray for our kids as they are working through transitioning to this new culture. They each have their own struggles, but Nori is having the hardest time with so many things being different and missing her friends.
Please pray for wisdom and discernment as we move forward. We intend to buy a home in Ukarumpa and it's a big decision with where to buy, and how much we can afford, etc, etc. Houses here cost anywhere from $10,000 to $35,000 with different levels of repairs needed. Sometimes people are even given their homes by other missionaries! The major bonus to buying a home is first of all stability (not having to move from rental to rental as missionaries come and go from their furloughs), and secondly we could have it paid off in one term for the same cost as renting.
We love you and miss you so much, please write us back so we can pray for you better!
Love,
John and Kristi
